IIT Guwahati welcomes all New Students of B.Tech. Programme admitted through JEE(Advanced)2017




(Mandatory) Reporting Date for Document Verification and Registration: July 24, 2017 (Monday) at 9 am in the Lecture Hall Complex



All students admitted to B.Tech. programmes of IITG are hereby instructed to reach IIT Guwahati campus preferably by July 20, 2017 (Thursday) or latest by evening of July 23, 2017 (Sunday).

The Induction Programme to all first year BTech students will start on July 21, 2017 at 10 am in the Dr.Bhupen Hazarika Auditorium.

Important: The Document Verification and Academic Course Registration will be held on July 24, 2017. All new students who got seats in IITG BTech programmes must be present for Document verification and Academic Course registration on July 24, 2017 without fail.

Accompanying parents/ guardians can plan to reach Guwahati on the evening of July 20 (Thursday) and to leave on July 24 (Monday) evening or July 25 (Tuesday).

Responses to some of the queries (due to delay in 6th and 7th round of seat allotment)

Question-1: Is there any change in reporting date and time for new students of BTech programmes at IITG?
Answer: There is no change in the date of main and important acritivity (Document Verification and Academic Course Registration). So, it is preferable for new students to reach by July 20, 2017 (for those who have already booked their tickets and/or if you wish). But in all cases, it is mandatory to report at 9 am on July 24, 2017 (Monday) for Document Verification and Academic Course Registration.

Question-2: What are the activities planned on July 21, 2017 as a part of Induction Programme?
Answer: Due to revised schedule of Seat Allottments, we have revised the activities on July 21, 2017 as Introduction and Interaction kind of activities. Missing these activities will not affect new students in participating remaining part/ activities of Induction Programme.

Question-3: By skipping July 21st activities of Induction programme, whether the new students of BTech can report at 9 am on July 24, 2017 (Monday)?
Answer: Yes, the new stdents of BTech can skip the activities of Induction Programme on July 21st, if they wish. But remember that they should be present in the IITG campus at 9 am on July 24, 2017 (Monday) for document verification and academic course registration.
Our advice to all new students of BTech is: "Please try to reach IITG campus latest by evening of July 23, 2017 (Sunday)"

Here are few essentials that you must bring with you:

All Certificates , Marks Sheets & Other Documents in Original along with Two Sets of Photocopies and Scanned Copy (in PDF format) of the originals:

  • All certificates (Pass Certificate, if any and Marks Sheets/ Grade Cards) for 10th Class and 12th Class
  • Original Admit Card of JEE(Advanced)2017 and Downloaded Score Card of JEE(Advanced)2017
  • Birth Certificate (for Date of Birth)
  • Provisional Seat Allotment Letter
  • Document Verification-cum-Seat Acceptance Letter issued at Reporting Center of JoSAA2017
  • In case of OBC(NCL) category students, OBC-Non Creamy Layer Certificate in prescribed format given in JoSAA Portal issued on or after 01.04.2016
  • In case of SC/ST category students, Caste Certificate in prescribed format given in JoSAA Portal
  • In case of PwD category students, Physical Disability Certificate in prescribed format given in JoSAA Portal
  • For all Students: Photocopy of Medical Certificate on your Physical Fitness (in prescribed format given in Annexure-8 of Business Rule of JoSAA)
  • Proof of payment of Seat Acceptance Fee (Rs.45,000/- or Rs.20,000/-)
  • If your family annual income is less than 5 lakhs in last financial year then Family Annual Income Certificate for the financial year of April 1, 2016 to March 31, 2017 issued by the competent authority (District Magistrate/ Revenue officer/ Tehsildar )
  • Passport (for foreign nationals) or OCI certificate or PIO card, if applicable
  • DS Certificate, if applicable [format as given in JoSAA Portal]
  • Your Color Passport Size and Stamp Size Photographs with white background (at least 16 numbers each)
  • IITG Total Fee Details at the Time of Admission:
    • Indian Nationals including OCI and PIO Card Holders: SC/ ST/ PwD: Rs.29,870/-; Most Economically Backward (i.e., whose annual family income in the FY2015-16 is less than Rs.1 Lakh): Rs.29,870/-; Other Economically Backward (i.e., whose annual family income in the FY2015-16 is between Rs.1 Lakh and Rs.5 Lakh): Rs.63,203/-; For all others: Rs.1,29,870/-.
    • Foreign Nationals (excluding OCI and PIO card holders): US$2000+Rs.29,870/- = Rs.1,58,150/- for Non-SAARC Countries and US$1000+Rs.29,870/- = Rs.94,010/- for SAARC Countries .
    JEE(Advanced)2017/JAB will deduct Rs.1,000/- as Reporting Center Processing Charge from the seat acceptance fee paid by you and the remaining amount (Rs.44,000/- or Rs.19,000/- as applicable) will be transferred to IIT Guwahati in order to adjust in the IITG Total fee at the time of admission.
    So, the Balance Amount of Fee (= IITG Total Fee minus Rs.44,000/- or Rs.19,000/- as applicable) is to be paid through debit/ credit cards at POS in the registration venue by the BTech students on the Day of Registration (July 24) at IIT Guwahati.

  • Reaching Guwahati:

    Reach IIT Guwahati on July 20, 2017 (Thursday) or latest by evening of July 23, 2017 (Sunday).

    Proceed directly to the allotted hostel and contact the hostel care-taker at the hostel office for accommodation. If you are arriving at late hours, then contact security persons at the hostels or students volunteers available at the hostel offices for accommodation. In case of any difficulties, you can contact the Warden/ Associate Warden of your hostel. Accompanying parents/ guardians can plan to stay in Guwahati till July 25th (if not possible, at least evening of July 24th).
