Mr. Aadi Moolam Ramesh, doctoral student under supervision of Dr. Latha Rangan received Young Scientist Award for the best paper titled "Characterization of a stearoyl-acyl carrier protein desaturase gene from potential biofuel plant, P. pinnata" in area of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology during National conference on Science Of OMICS For Agricultural Productivity: Future Perspectives held at G.B. Pant University of Agriculture & Technology, Pantnagar from March 4-6, 2014.

Mr. Supriyo Basak, doctoral student under supervision of Dr. Latha Rangan received Poster Award in the Session Molecular Biology and Genomics for the paper titled "Genetic diversity and nuclear DNA content in Turmeric of Northeast India" during National conference on Perspectives Trends in Plant Sciences and Biotechnology (PTPB-2014); Punjab University, Chandigarh & Society for Plant Research, from Feb 21-23, 2014.

In a nation-wide 'Young Researchers' Conference (YRC) - 2013 organized by Institute of Chemical Technology (ICT), Mumbai on 12th-13th January 2013, Mr. Sourav Prasad, M.Tech. student under the supervision of Dr. Senthil kumar secured first prize for Best Oral Presentation.

MTP thesis of Mr. Sourav Prasad (M.Tech. student under the supervision of Dr. Senthil Kumar) entitled 'Batch Cultivation of Lactobacillus Sp. for D-Lactic Acid Production Using Synthetic Whey Permeate as Production Medium' was also awarded first prize for 'Best Research Project' in YRC 2013 meet.

Mr. Mitun Chakraborty, PhD student of the department has received best poster presentation award for the following paper: Mitun Chakraborty, Manish Goel, Siddhartha Sankar Ghosh*, Pranab Goswami* Molecular Characterization and Structure Function Relationship Studies of a Novel Alcohol Oxidase from Aspergillus terreus MTCC 6324. "WORLD CONGRESS ON BIOTECHNOLOGY" held at Hyderabad, India; 4th-6th May, 2012, Book of Proceedings, Abstract no: P-88, Pg No: 76.

Mr. Anil Chandra, M.Tech Student under Dr. R. Swaminathan has been awarded the First Prize in poster presentation for presenting the work entitled ("Perturbation in the Activity of hydrolytic Enzymes post Biotinylation and post Quantum dot conjugation and their stability" by Aditya Iyer, Anil Chandra and R. Swaminathan) in the International Conference on Microbial, Plant and Animal Research 2012 (March 29-31) held at MITS, Laxmangarh Rajasthan.

Mr. Sudipta Ghosh, doctoral student under joint supervision of Dr.Latha Rangan and Dr. Utpal Bora, participated in the Training Course on "Extraction and modification of bioactive components and specialty chemicals from plants"  held from 23 to 27 April 2012, at Anadolu University,in Eskisehir-Turkey, Organized by ICS-UNIDO. He received full travel support and assistance from ICS-UNIDO to participate in this training program.

Mr. Pojul Loying, Ph.D. Student under supervision of Dr. Biplab Bose, participated in the European Molecular Biology Organization Practical Course on "Single Cell Gene Expression Analysis" at the European Molecular Biology Laboratory, Heidelberg, Germany from 19th to 23rd March 2012 among 16 other international participants. He received the Boehringer Ingelheim Fonds travel grant from Boehringer Ingelheim Fonds, Foundation for Basic Research in Medicine, Germany for participating in the course.

Mr. Prakash Saudagar, Ph.D. Student under supervision of Dr. Vikash Kumar Dubey has been awarded the best poster prize for his work on "Trypanothione synthetase from Leishmania donovani: Cloning, expression, characterization and inhibition studies" during 80th Annual Meeting of Society of Biological Chemist (India) held at Lucknow during November 12-15, 2011.

Nandini Sarkar, Manjeet Kumar and Vikash Kumar Dubey*. Effect of sodium tetrathionate on amyloid fibril: Insight in to the role of disulfide bond in amyloid progression. Biochimie, 2011, 93, 962-968. The article is featured as a key scientific article on the Global Medical Discovery website.

Mr. Anil Kumar Shukla, Ph.D student under Dr. V.K. Dubey has been awarded travel award by Department of Science and Technology for attending European Molecular Biology Organization (EMBO) meeting 2011 held at Vienna.

Dr. Vigya Kesari, a former Ph.D. student at the Department of Biotechnology, IIT Guwahati who carried out her Ph.D. research under the supervision of Dr. Latha Rangan during 2006-2010 and presently a Post Doctoral Fellow in Department of Biology, University of Western Ontario, Canada has been selected for Young Scientist Award instituted by Indian Science Congress Association (ISCA) for the year 2011-2012 in the area of Agriculture and Forest Science; for her doctoral work on Pongamia. The award will be conferred to Dr. Kesari during 99th Indian Science Congress to be held at KIIT University, Bhubaneswar, from January 3 & 7, 2012.

Mr. Arghya Sett, Ph.D. Student under Dr. U. Bora has been awarded the First Prize in poster presentation for presenting the work entitled ("Role of PCL in nanoparticle based drug delivery" by Ratul K.Das, Arghya Sett, Naresh Kasoju, Sumithra B.,Utpal Bora) in the National Conference on Tissue Engineering held at NIT, Rourkela.

Mr. Tushar, doctoral student working under the supervision of Dr. Latha Rangan has been selected for the prestigious Fulbright Nehru Doctoral and Professional Research (FN-DPR) Fellowship by United Sates - Indian Educational Foundation (USIEF) as Fulbright Scholar for the year 2011-2012.
