Title:  Development of Natural Fiber Reinforced Polypropylene Composites and their Biodegradability Studies.

Abstract: The scope of the study is to examine the perspectives of the use of banana fibers, bamboo fibers and pineapple leaf fibers (PALF) and polypropylene to yield polymer-natural fiber composites. Maleic anhydride (MA) was used as a compatibilizing agent to fabricate the composites.  Various physico-mechanical properties investigated were water absorption, tensile/flexural and impact properties and thermal properties such as Vicat softening temperature/heat deflection temperature.  Additional characterization using scanning electron microscopy, thermogravimetric analysis and fourier transform infra red spectroscopy were also carried out. Finally, for all these composites, biodegradability studies were carried out.
