Date: March 10, 2015 - March 14, 2015

Overview

This course is mainly aimed at undergraduate college teachers. The course has two components. The first part deals with fundamental ideas of algorithms that are necessary in many fields of computer science and engineering. This component will describe different algorithm design techniques such as "divide-and-conquer", "dynamic programming", "Network flow", with various applications.

The second component will deal with "game theory" and its various applications as "game theory" is a very relevant topic of research now-a-days with applications in various domains. This course aims to teach the undergraduate college teachers the basic methods and tools required in designing and proving algorithms.

Course Content

The short term course aims to include the following themes:

  • Greedy Algorithm
  • Divide and Conquer Technique
  • Dynamic Programming Technique
  • Network Flow based Algorithms
  • LP (Linear programming) based Techniques
