The Graduate Research Meet aims to bring together a diverse range of interdisciplinary researchers and offer a platform to showcase innovative and cutting-edge research in the humanities and social sciences. The event is organized by the PhD scholars of the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences (HSS), Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati. IITG-HSS is a vibrant center for research which includes academics and students from nine different disciplines: Archaeology, Economics, English, History, Linguistics, Philosophy, Political Science, Psychology and Sociology.
The primary objective of the GRM is to highlight the interdisciplinarity and significance of recent research in the humanities and social sciences. It also aims to explore the varied and complex methodology which underpin such research.
This is an event organized for students by their peer group. It therefore offers an excellent opportunity for doctoral students to present their findings and work-in-progress and receive valuable feedback from peers and experts alike.
*Please understand that this is a PhD student ONLY conference and hence, persons with a PhD cannot be an author or a coauthor.
We invite submissions from Doctoral students in all areas of Humanities and Social Sciences. These can be based on various sources including, ethnography, archival research, field visits, subaltern methodologies, statistical analysis or any novel research methodologies on social issues.
The accepted submissions will be clustered around their common topics and areas of interest. The final program (released approximately about two weeks before the conference) will mirror the research agendas of the delegates rather than a pre-conceived list of arbitrary topics.
