On the 8th of November, 2015, the volunteers of NSS, IIT Guwahati organized a cleanliness drive inside the campus as a part of the ‘Swach Bharat Abhiyaan’ program initiated by our Honorable Prime Minister. The volunteers walked around all the boys hostels and picked up trash like paper, polythene, used bottles, glass, etc. from the roads and footpaths. On the whole the cleanliness drive was a success and we made a progress in maintaining the cleanliness of the campus.

On the first of November, 2015, the volunteers of NSS, IIT Guwahati organized a cleanliness drive inside the campus as a part of the ‘Swach Bharat Abhiyaan’ program initiated by our Honorable Prime Minister. The volunteers started their drive in the morning from the new Students’ Activity Centre (New SAC) and walked on the roads to the viewpoint of the campus. From there they walked till the market complex of IITG and then returned to the new SAC by the road on the banks of the Serpentine Lake. Throughout the cleanliness drive, while walking, the volunteers picked up trash like paper, polythene, used bottles, glass, etc. from the roads and footpaths. On the whole the cleanliness drive was a success and we made a progress in maintaining the cleanliness of the campus.
ASSAM FLOOD RELIEF CAMP

A social activity involving donation of reusable items, clothes and rice was organized with a view of relieving the flood victims in a village called Boralimara, Boko (Assam). As usual all the IITG fraternity extended their hands in the noble act of help. All the collected items in the previous collection drives from the faculty, staff and students were distributed. In quantity, around 500 kgs of rice and pulses were distributed to the affected victims. The relief camp was great success and it was great to see the smiles on the people’s faces when they received the items.
STUDENTS REUSABLE ITEMS COLLECTION DRIVE

Volunteers of NSS, IIT Guwahati visited all the students of IIT Guwahati and collected reusable items for the recent flood victims of Assam. The volunteers visited all the hostels including the boys’ hostels, girls’ hostels and the married scholars’ hostel and collected reusable items including footwear, clothes, etc. The drive was a success and many useful items were collected which were to be distributed to the flood victims later on.
WASTE MANAGEMENT DURING PINKATHON

NSS, IIT Guwahati in collaboration with Waste Warriors took responsibility of the waste management during the Pinkathon. Volunteers of NSS, IIT Guwahati helped with the waste management during the marathon by picking up the trash from the ground. The cleanliness of the ground was maintained. After the event was completed the volunteers of NSS took the help of paid workers of that area to clean all the leftover trash from the ground and segregate all the waste and transport it to the Guwahati city waste management.

‘SBI Pinkathon-Empowering Indian Women’ an initiative marathon to raise awareness about the importance of a healthy lifestyle for women. Volunteers from NSS, IIT Guwahati helped the participants by providing them with water and towels during the marathon. The volunteers in collaboration with Waste Warriors took responsibility of Green Water Stations. The aim of these stations was to give participants the choice to be responsible and take the eco-friendly option of using reusable water glasses instead of using plastic water bottles. The marathon was a great success.
FACULTY REUSABLE ITEMS COLLECTION DRIVE

On September 26th of 2015, NSS volunteers visited all the faculty and staff members of IIT Guwahati and collected reusable items for the flood victims of Assam. Each volunteer was allocated 10 to 20 quarters of the faculty and was responsible for collecting the reusable items for that area. The drive was a success and lots of reusable items including clothes, utensils, footwear, etc. were collected to be distributed later.
Blood Donation Camps
The first blood donation camp was organized at IITG campus in April 2007. This was a success and around 200 units of blood was collected. Since then it has become a regular event at IITG. We usually organize at least one camp in a semester. The event is arranged in collaboration with Guwahati Medical College (GMC).
Visit to orphanages in Guwahati city
The students of IITG take frequent visits to some of the local orphanages. This interaction has proved to be beneficial to both parties. The inmates of the orphanages always enjoy the presence of our students and we in turn learn a lot about human emotions and values from these kids.
Working with NGO's
We work together with various NGO's in Guwahati city.We help them in their mission as volunteering service to achieve their vision.
Clothes Collection and Distribution
Taking the good work to the city, the students collected old clothes from the campus and distributed to the needy in Guwahati city. This activity started in August 2007 and has become a regular event since then.
Concerning about environment and Contributing our bit towards it,we organize "Mega Plantation Drive" atleast once in semester.
Street Play better known as "Nukkad Natak" is one of the best ways to create awareness about various social problems and their possible solution.With aim to create as much social awareness as we can,we organize "Street Plays" on regular basis.
We regularly organize cleanliness drive inside the campus.
Survery and presentations
WNSS volunteers visit nearby areas outside the campus to survey living condition and identify recurring problems. They also do research to collect facts. The findings are presented to all volunteers in seminars.
