	Bidisha Som has completed her PhD from Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi and has worked on various tribal languages of India, including the Great Andamanese. Her research interests include Cognitive linguistics, Endangered and lesser known languages, Language typology and sociolinguistics. The focus of her current research is the languages of the North East region of India.
