TEQIP-ll program is sponsored by the MHRD, GOI. Under this program, IITs have been invited to participate by establishing a Centre dealing with KNOWLEDGE INCUBATION (KIC) vide DO No. 16-25/2013-TS.VII dated 25th June 2013. These Centers are intended to become a focal point for training faculty, staff and students from TEQIP-II institutions in Knowledge Engineering, Content Creation, Improving Teaching, Pedagogy & Administrative Skills in identified niche areas/ disciplines. KIC-Knowledge Incubation Cell at IITG functions as a multi disciplinary as well as interdisciplinary Innovation Incubation Centre with Knowledge Management as its focus. It is actively involved in the area of improving the quality of technical education.

About KIC TEQIP

Importance:

Catalysis plays a pivotal role when nature executes several of its chemical and biological activities which are otherwise quite hard to accomplish. Mimicking these natural systems and formulating artificial catalytic systems for a variety of chemical/biological transformations have been a part of “Holy Grail of Chemistry and Biology”.


Scope and Objective:

The short-term course is organized with an objective to enhance the knowledge regarding the latest advances in catalytic research that is practiced world-wide. The course also envisages to educate the teaching fraternity of various colleges about the possible avenues to explore in this exciting field.


Topics to be covered:

The short term course will include the following themes

  1. Transition metal catalyzed small molecule activation and functionalization

  2. Bio-inspired and enzymatic catalysis

  3. Catalysis for green and sustainable chemistry

  4. Heterogeneous catalysts for energy and environmental applications

  5. Applications of organometallic compounds in fine chemical synthesis via catalysis

  6. Computational tools for advanced catalysis


Participation in this short term course will provide sufficient expertise to teachers who wish to design new UG and PG

level courses based on the above themes.

About Recent Trends in Catalysis (RTC)

ELIGIBILITY


The course is open to faculty members of TEQIP-listed institutions/ engineering colleges and government funded North East State technical institutions. Seats that remain unfilled will be open to other institutions. No course fee is charged. Candidates from TEQIP institutions will be reimbursed TA & DA .


SELECTION CRITERIA


Number of seats: 30.

Selection will be based on first come first served basis in the priority: (i) TEQIP mapped institution (ii) CFTI (iii) State government funded institutions (iv) Other institutions. More details can be found at the
