Objectives

Extraction of biopolymer (i.e., cellulose, hemicellulose, pectin, starch, gums, chitosan, etc.) from their pristine source either from plants or animals will be performed as one of the focused research activities. Subsequently, innovative formulations and processes will be developed to facilitate thermal processing of these biopolymers with conventional as well as degradable synthetic biodegradable polymers. This objective will certainly ensure their mass utilization for value added applications while maintaining environmental sustainability.

Centre will objectively develop novel and indigenous technology for commercialization of versatile synthetic biodegradable polymers such as poly(lactic acid), poly (ɛ-caprolactone), PHB, polybutylene succinate, poly(glycolic acid) and possible copolymers.

Dissemination of the knowledge gain in terms of intellectual property from the proposed CoE to the regulatory decision makers and stakeholders at all level, and finding a market for such products with the confidence that developed bio-derived polymers are safe and risk free.

Awareness to the society towards use of green polymers and their products by means of product demonstration in colleges, conference, by print and electronic medium.
