Teachers Training : Introduction

IIT Guwahati organized Teachers Training Camps (TTC) under the MoU signed by IIT Guwahati with Rashtriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhijan (RMSA), Assam Government under Rashtriya Avishkar Abhiyan. The purpose of this AGREEMENT is to clearly identify the roles and responsibilities of RMSA, Assam and IITG as they relate to the collaboration and partnership in imparting their responsibilities as mentioned in "Guidelines for RMSA Assam" and "Guidelines for IIT Guwahati" in "General Guidelines of TTC" page.

The common goal of the Teacher Training Camps (TTC)/Special Teacher Training Camps (STTC) is to strengthen the quality of Science (Physics, Math and Chemistry) teaching amongst in-service teachers of Assam. The TTC/STTC aims to increase the interest among the science teachers of Government High and Higher Secondary Schools of Assam to learn new and creative methods of teaching.

Such TTC/STTC would help strengthen the teaching- learning processes in the schools and would directly benefit the children’s. Thus, TTC/STTC would also aim to strengthen subject expertise in schools of all the districts of Assam, build and support a network of learning process by Liaoning higher educational institutions (like IITs) with Government High Schools.

Guidelines for RMSA Assam

  1. To organise the Teachers Training Camps (TTC) and to provide administrative and other required support as further detailed in this MOU for the smooth implementation of the program.
  2. To identify 50 teachers from various districts of Assam, each from Physics, Math and Chemistry and depute for the training.
  3. Identification of the challenging/most difficult parts from the existing syllabus of Physics/Math/Chemistry, where teaching quality to be improved.
  4. Maximum participation to one TTC (please refer to "B-II") for a given subject to be fifty (50) teachers from Assam as identified by RMSA in first year of implementation.
  5. Financial support to organise the Teachers Training Camps i.e.,Fooding& Lodging, TA/DA, stationeries, cost for module preparation and certification of the participants any contingency (if any).

  7. Video records of TTC to be used by RMSA for circulation among science teachers of various academic districts.
  8. Certification of merit/incentive for participating teachers as per RMSA plan.
In Year 2 RMSA is responsible for the following activities:
  1. To map Assam in academic districts that will include not more than 50 teachers, each from Physics, Math and Chemistry.
  2. "School Mentors" to organize independent TTC in the academic districts as planned and identified by RMSA in point "I".
  3. To bear the cost of such TTC.
  4. Video records of STTC (please refer to the point "I" of "IITG-Role and Responsibility" for Year 2) to be used by RMSA for circulation among science teachers of various academic districts.

In Year 2 IITG is responsible for the following activities:
  1. To organize summer/winter special teachers training camps (STTC) for physics/math/chemistry in parallel at IITG campus.
  2. Participant for one STTC for a specific science subject to be at least teachers from three academic districts (identified by RMSA in point “A I”) that are mentored by “School Mentor” in the presence of that “School Mentor”.
  3. Maximum duration of STTC planned in winter/summer break not to exceed beyond ten full days.
